It explores the science of dyes and pigments, methods of fabric preparation, dyeing, printing, and finishing, as well as colour fastness testing. Students will learn how fibre type, fabric structure, and finishing methods influence colour application and durability. Emphasis is placed on both traditional and modern colouration methods, including eco-friendly and sustainable dyeing practices. Practical sessions enable students to gain hands-on experience in mixing dyes, applying colour, and achieving desired visual effects on various textile materials.

It covers the study of natural and synthetic fibres, yarn formation, fabric construction methods, and fabric finishes. Students will explore how the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of fibres affect the behaviour and end-use of textiles. Practical sessions provide hands-on experience in fibre identification, fabric analysis, and testing for strength, elasticity, and durability.

This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, cut, assemble, and finish garments.
